The Top Six Beaches on Grand Bahama Island

A lot of people come to the Bahamas and forget all about the resort, the food, the shopping and say one thing: “Show me where the beach is!”It is the Bahamas, after all. So if that sounds like you, you’re about ready to hear the top six beaches on Grand Bahama Island. 1. Gold Rock Beach.Located in Lucayan National Park, this pristine bit of beauty is one of the most popular destinations on the entire island – and the distinction is well-earned. It’s a must-see if you love touring beaches. 2. Coral Beach.Located near Lucaya Beach (but far enough away that you can beat some of the crowd), Coral Beach is perhaps one of Grand Bahama Island’s most underrated beaches. Its proximity to Lucaya Beach and all of its attractions while having a nice amount of seclusion make it our favorite beach for easy fun in the sun. 3. Taino Beach. This is the beach you want to hear about if you’re a parent and you want to travel to the beach with your children. It’s very family-friendly, offering the right kind of crowd and of course all the right activities children can enjoy. 4. Lucaya Beach.Maybe we at the Grand Lucayan are a little biased, but we think this is the quintessential Bahamian Beach: plenty to do, plenty to drink, and plenty of sun to soak up. It’s also located near another top beach, Coral Beach, if you want to find a little more seclusion when you stay with us. 5. Xanadu Beach.A favorite of tourists and spring breakers, there’s plenty of activity here to keep you busy for a day – just make sure you pack the sunscreen! Here you’ll find everything from banana boat rides to parasailing – yes, all on one beach. 6. Smith’s Point Beach. This is a great place for visitors to get a taste of the local life – there’s a regular fish fry (a favorite amongst Midwestern tourists looking for a taste of home) and plenty of socializing and dancing for you to get your nightly fill.
